Q&A: Varicocelectomy?

Varicocelectomy?

I know children bounce back alot sooner but my son now 24 had this done when he was 13. He took it easy the day he had it done and the following day but then was back to normal. Watch out for a hydrocele afterwards that is one of the side effects. Now they the doctors say it is similar to hernia surgery. Now my husband had hernia surgery and he was down for a week. I know I havent been much help. Good Luck!My varicocelectomy incision is located on my scrotum is this normal?

Hi Shaun,

yes its normal and dependent on your surgeon's preference. On the scrot, it will be less visible...

RR"Varicocelectomy, the surgical correction of a varicocele, is performed on an outpatient basis.[10] The three most common approaches are inguinal (groin), retroperitoneal (abdominal), and infrainguinal/subinguinal (below the groin)."

Apparently, your doctor chose the inguinal approach.
