will a testicular ultrasound show a varicocele if i have one?
yes been thereYes; varicoceles, as well as other testicular and scrotal abnormalities, such as hydroceles, hernias, and testicular cancer, can be visualized using ultrasound. The ultrasound will be interpreted by a doctor who specializes in reading imaging studies, and the results will be sent to the doctor who ordered the test. The doctor will then share the results with you so you can decide together what to do if an abnormality is found.Varicocele !! I have dull pain in left testicle I went to urologist and he recommended a ultrasound scan .?
My boyfriend has the same problem. The pain comes and goes, he takes anitinflamatories when he needs to. He's 24.
I fyou're planning on having a baby, have the semen analysis done before you decided to have the surgery. More often than not, the surgery isn't necessarily, espcially when it's a mild varicocele. Don't panic. The conclusions we have come to throught conversations with the MD's is that it's common, it's not very threatening, and typicaly your fertility is fine, even without surgery. One step at a time, it shouldn't be a big deal. Good luck :-)
Advice he's ben given that seems to help is: WEar briefs when you can, it gives the testicles more support, try not o sit indian style if you ever do, myboyfriend has atendency to do that when he's studying and it winds up bothering him later, make sure you're ejaculating every so often to relive presure int he area, so even if you're not having sex, masturbate (as if you need an excuse, right) and take advil or aleve when you start to feel pain.My dad had 1 and fathered 2 children w/o surgery & my husband has 1 and we have a child. You should try first before having surgery b/c it rarely causes infertility, but should it in your case, surgical correction usually restores fertility in 6 months. I would just wait & see for now.
RNA varicocele may cause: Shrinkage of the affected testicle (atrophy). The bulk of the testicle is made up of sperm-producing tubules. When damaged, as from varicocele, the testicle shrinks and softens. It's not clear what causes the testicle to shrink, but the malfunctioning valves allow blood to pool in the veins, which can result in increased pressure in the veins and exposure to toxins in the blood that may cause testicular damage.
Infertility. It's not clear how varicoceles affect fertility. Some experts believe the testicular veins cool blood in the testicular artery, helping to maintain the proper temperature for optimal sperm production. By blocking blood flow, a varicocele may keep the temperature too high, affecting sperm formation and movement (motility).
Your urologist would recommend surgery if he thought it urgent. He should be aware of your plans to conceive so he will do what he can to preserve fertility. Talk more to your doctor if you have deep concerns or get a second opinion.STOP FREAKING OUT!!!! You are okay. You don't have cancer, thank GOD! What you have is fairly common. You will be fine. Remember you have two testicles and both make sperm. The semen analysis is just to get every possible answer with regard to your plumbing down there.
Just wait to see how it goes. Call your doctor so he can set your mind at rest.I suggest getting the semen analysis. You won't really know where you stand until you get those results.
Good luck!!!
